I have a degenerative eye disorder called Keratoconus (KC). The disease had worsened to where it was severely affecting my livelihood (I read contracts for a living). I was referred to Dr. Mao by my eye surgeon as the go-to-guy that has special expertise in fitting difficult cases and to avoid risky surgery (whew!). I was very skeptical but as soon as I met Dr. Mao (Alex) I knew he was different: he is kind, listened attentively, and empathetic. He immediately got to work and had me seeing almost perfectly within 20 minutes while I was still in his office one word WOW! He advised I try a new, cutting edge product called a scleral lens and over the next few weeks, Dr. Mao fine-tuned the fitting to near-perfect vision. He even instructed me on how to take them on and off correctly. I am happy to say I am back at work, the new contact lenses fit great, comfortable, and do not go flying off when I blink; I can actually drive at night now too!
